redemption

I was a little disoriented and confused today about whether or not I should attend church today. All week I have been feeling unease about some cituations that were going on that where troubling my family. As I listen to a cd that a good friend of mine gave me when she and her husband went to calvary this past summer, the title to it was dont worry.. As I listen very carefully , I was able to received the message that was sent to me. What was told to me was that any battles that are in my life are really not mine but the lord's. My issue was to trust him and throw my hands in the air and let him solve the problems that are not physically within my jurisdiction. The reverend that I was listening to her name is Jenny Smart. From what I gather she has been married for 37 years for she was celebrating her anniversary and her husband is a pastor as well. I thought it was awesome to have a couple think of nothing better to do on their anniversary than go to calvary and get closer to the lord. It was worth my time to listen to this specific reverend. Her message was loud and clear , not all the battles are ours and we have to learn to trust the lord more . I went to church today thinking I was not going to feel comfortable because of the instances I was talking about earlier, but I actually received a good message. I as a human need to have faith that I am worth receiving an anointment from the lord.

An elder from my church always has a psalm he says and it goes a little something like this....

" I love the lord he hears my cries, with heartache and pain, i love to praise his name. "

All the time I look back at my life, I love the lord more and more and i'm greatful to know how much blessings I have received from him.

" I LOVE YOU LORD AND THANK YOU FOR SENDING JESUS CHRIST TO DIE ON THAT CROSS FOR MY SINS' FOR WITHOUT HIM OUR SALVATION AS HUMANS MIGHT HAVE BEEN DOOM. SO THANK YOU FOR LOVING US SO MUCH"

Sermon part 2

The homilectical structure of sermon preparation and sermon classification is by structure. (3 types of structure)
one of the most common methods of structure is the

a) Textual sermom: In the textual sermon the divisions come from the text. The text provides the subject and major divisions of the sermon. A single subject is drain from the text and then it is discussed under the divisions the text furnishes. In many ways the textual sermon is the easiest format.

The textual sermon should follow this format:

1A) Find a specific subject from the text
2A) Look for seperate ideas and divisions
3A) It is not always necessary to follow the natural order of the text although it is more easy and convinient, but it is not obligatory.
4A) The preacher need not use every part of the text. He should have the wisdom to omit. The material omitted can be used at another for another sermon.

B) The Topical Sermon- You are given a topic or subject to preach on or you are drawn to preach on a specific topic or theme ( subject) even before you have found a biblical text that sheds any light on that issue or topic. (at this time you pray and ask god to give you a text and you may also use your own concordance and knowledge of the word (text). The goal of topical preaching is not just giving info. but why this topic important to us today as christmas....

Sermon Preparation

There are two types of sermonpreparation..
1) topic or theme given to you to preach on
2)pray and ask god what does your congregation you are preaching to needs to hear...
Always seek God for direction and guidance. Pray and ask God to give you a subject and title. Then ask God to give you or lead you to the text you will use. The spiritknows what your congregation needs spiritually, how many there will be, type of people and gender of the majority of the congregation.
3) When you are given a theme or text you can look at your concordance to find the text you will use. There are good concordances you can use. The strongs concordance will also have the word in greek and their meaning as to the greek text. Try to use both the O.T. and the N.T. in your sermons.
You can give a history of your text
ie: Who wrote the book?
Dates/times the book was written
Background of what was going on during the time of your text.
Try to answer the five w's and how.
Remember you don't always have to give this info. but it is a way to lengthen your sermon if you have the time to do it...
5) Once the preacher has their subject, title and text they should now study the text so that they may now exegese it...
The theme or subject should be suitable to the themegiven to you, or to the time, place and occassion ie:
Easter preach on the resurrection of christ
Christmas on the birth of christ. In doing so this the preacher is able to take advantage of the sentiment already existing in the minds his/her people in favor of their theme (subject).
Exegesis is the breaking dow of the text into such a way that people can understand the five w's of the text(scriptures verses) they are using

My heavenly father has provided me with life and joy. I have a beautiful home . Four beautiful children and Two granddaughters. A husband and all but not least my dog snoop. As i sit and think about all whats wrong with today i can clearly see that I am a very lucky person and therefore i can say what a beautiful day, is today...

what is a preacher part 2

The personality of the preacher has very much to do with the effectiveness of his message. A preachers sermon should be a part of himself; indeed, it must be the expression of his very life and experience. If such is not the case, then what they call preaching will be nothing but " sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal".Personality counts in preaching the experience of the truth must be in the preacher himself before he or she can proclaim it with convicting force in and through the sermon. If your preacher is a man or a woman with experience of the truth in them- you will find that very little else is needed to set free the sermon in him or her. A preacher must not be an imitator. Every person has their own unique voice, face and style. Each man has his own individuality to stamp on the work which God has given him or her to do . The preacher should always be himself or herself, his/her best self consecrated self, his or her highest self. In so doing he/she will best prove their sincerity, honor his/her people to whom they minister to. A preacher nor a pastor should not wait until the day they are to preach and then expect to give us something to preach. Remember Timothy2 :15

Revival

I went to a Revival to support my Pastor as she was asked to preach on the Business of God. I was very blessed to go this event. It was my first and I can tell you , you feel alive again. You actually feel like you can be a servant to God and that you are worthy of his praise. As I sat and listen to the different speakers speak, I got a better understanding of the word of God and all he has in place for me. I also learn to be obedient and have patience. "dont worry"... I want to thank our Pastor for inviting us to come and be part of such a wonderful event. Our Pastor is Dr. Maythia Henriquez-Abney and our church is Warriors for Christ. We are in Tobyhnna, Pa and if you want to hear the wonderful word this Pastor gives come and see her sometime . She's awesome .

What is a Preacher?

The preacher is seperated by God for the specific work of teaching the gospel and is a man or woman who from one side of his or her nature takes in the truth from God and from the other side gives out that truth to men. He or she deals with God in behalf of God. The truth must not be mechanically expressed. The preacher must not be a mere machine, he or she must be a real man or woman-- a good woman or man, full of the Holy spirit and faith. The effect of such a life and such preaching will be that people will listen. and many people will be added to the Lord...(Acts 11:24)

What is Preaching ?

Preaching is the proclamation of the good news of salvation through man to men. The proclamation of any kind of message other than the gospel message, which is the truth of God as revealed in the bible and especially in Jesus Christ, is not preaching. The message of the very truth of God through man to men- that is preaching......

Practice The Disciplines Matthew 16:18

In addition to studying the bible, preachers ought to be regularly engaged in a life of spiritual discipline that keep the soul well fed and nurtured. The anointing comes from being in the presence of God(having a heart of God always). Spending time in prayer corporately, with a prayer partner, with your spouse and alone with just you and God. Periods of fasting accompanied by readings from devotional books as well as the bible. Listening to other preachers. If you are a preacher or Pastor preaching and teaching on a regular basis we do not realize how much we need to hear a sermon preached by someone else until we find ourselves sitting like empty pitchers before a full fountain waiting and needing to be filled.

Remember the Stories....

Preachers need to take time to be immersed in the lessons, stories and characters found in the bible. The time you spend in the solitary study of scripture will always pay off because things you read and ponder while alone will come rushing to mind in the midst of a moment in ministry , whether preaching ,teaching, counseling or ministering to someone...

Take Time for your Heart Psalm119:11

We need to study the word of God and internalize it so that it guides and directs our own lives as much as we hope it will guide and direct the lives of those to whom we preach. Hiding the word in your heart is to be contrasted with holding great amounts of scripture in your head; verses that can be quoted from memory as the need arises.

worry

Today I was listening to a lady on an audio cd that was preaching about worrying. She made good points . We are chickens with our heads cut off instead of being eagles and fly high... We are so diconnected with our lord that we have no faith and therefore rather worry than have faith and trust and be connected. It was an interesting concept that she was discussing and I was in awe to hear...

continuing the art and science of preaching

Take time for head...........2 timothy chapter 2:15

This meansread and study your bible on a consistent basis. Know your scriptures. A lack of knowledge of the scripturescan lead to an embarrassing consequence. What I mean is knowthe 6 books, where a book is. If you are asked to go to the book of ruth and your looking in the bible around Malachi and matthew. Ordained ministers, true preachers should not be preachingout of a bible with index tabs in it for the books. Time spent in the scriptures familiarizes us not only with its content but also with its geography(where it is located).
Read and study books dealing with biblical interpretation and theology as well as books about new ideas and insights in sermon design and delivery.

The Art and Science of preaching

1. The Heart and Habits of a Preacher.
Take time for your health. you can not preach effectively if you are not in good health. Watch your diet and your weight. No matter how great your feel for ministryis, you can not do much for the Kingdom of God if your sick, exhausted or on the verge of a stroke all the time. Take time to maintain good health..

what has the world come to?

I was listening to foxhole on sirius/xm radio and was very disturb by the actions of a pastor that they were discussing.
This So call Pastor whose name is Steven Anderson and he is in Phoenix, AZ. This particular wanna be man of god, was asking his parishiners to pray that President Barack Obama get brain cancer like Sen. Ted Kennedy (RIP) . What kind of asshoe will tell people to pray for something like that and who is stupid enough to do it. At this point I would have left the church..... It just shows you that there is still very hately people in this world ........
